Design and Methods

The project is guided by the following research questions:

  • What constitutes effective retention and builds the commitment of high quality early career teachers to the profession?
  • How do leaders work to manage the micropolitics of retention?
  • What processes and practices secure the retention of high quality teachers?

The research involves four linked phases:

(i) orientation,
(ii) conceptualising the retention process,
(iii) understanding the micropolitics of retention, and
(iv) identifying effective practices to retain high quality teachers.
